Ruth's Chris

Before I begin this blog post I want to preface it a little and mention this is far from my first visit to a Ruth’s Chris and will not be the last, so I am pretty biased. Ruth’s Chris is also considered a fine dining restaurant so, if you want the full course experience, wait until parents or grandparents come to visit! Another note about parents coming to visit, this is the best time to try places in Chuck you wouldn’t normally go; don’t waste your time showing them your (college-budget friendly) favorites.

I’m not going to spoil it for you, but when you walk into the bar, remember to check out the ceiling, a little surprise we learned about thanks to the GM Christine. Keep an eye out for live music coming this summer on the patio! Past the bar is the main dining room, elegant yet modern and perfect for incorporating the old Ruth’s vibe yet making it appealing to the modern customer. Head’s up, this restaurant is deceivingly easy to get lost in (I got lost three different times going to the bathroom, oops).

Service in the food and bev industry is key to a good dining experience; another reason to take your parents for the nicer meals, at some places––not naming names (yet)––you will be treated differently with your parents versus with your college friends. Friday, Edwin was our server and Keith was our SA, both of whom were phenomenal. Service here was at the perfect level of here for anything you need, but not jump down your throat obnoxious.

Finally, my favorite part of any meal––and I would assume, the reason you’re reading this blog––the food! Words cannot describe how good this food is. Over the course of dinner we ordered; calamari, fried lobster tail, and ahi tuna bites for appetizers. Shrimp and grits, stuffed chicken, and lamb chops for dinner with lobster mac, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and mushrooms on the side. Apple tart, cheesecake, and creme brulee for dessert. Ahh so much food, talk about stuffed! While literally everything was fantastic, the shrimp and grits did stand out. Ruth’s has given a classic southern dish a new twist; the grits are fried and look like pieces of toast (pictures above) and the shrimp are on the side. I have to say that I am quite the fan of this style of shrimp and grits; coming from someone that never orders shrimp and grits, its gotta be pretty good!

Starting with this post we have decided to include ratings for three different categories as well as letting you know what type of restaurant this is (parent’s visit, treat yourself, good staple, and broke broke)! The ratings are out of 10 and in the categories food (obvi), atmosphere, and service! So, for Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse we have:

Food: 10

Atmosphere: 8

Service: 10

With the parents restaurant. Possibly a treat yourself if you’re feeling ambitious

As always, thank you for reading the blog and following along with the food journey we keep finding ourselves on!
